Puerto Vallarta, Mexico – In a proactive effort to safeguard its citizens during the upcoming hurricane season, Jalisco State has distributed vital supplies to the municipal DIF systems in vulnerable communities. The Social Assistance Secretariat (SSAS) delivered food, bedding, hygiene kits, and cleaning supplies to eleven municipalities in the Costa Sur and Costa Sierra Occidental regions.
“We are taking a proactive approach to ensure the safety and well-being of our citizens,” stated Fabiola Loya, head of SSAS. “These supplies will provide essential support to families in need, helping them to cope with the potential challenges of the hurricane season.”
The investment in these supplies, totaling 1.7 million pesos, reflects the state’s commitment to disaster preparedness. The most dangerous months for Jalisco are September, October, and early November, based on historical weather patterns.
Luis Rodríguez Peña, Director of Humanitarian Aid for the Jalisco DIF System, emphasized the importance of these supplies in protecting vulnerable populations. “These regions have been particularly impacted by past hurricanes,” he explained. “The supplies we are distributing today will help to ensure that residents are prepared and resilient in the face of potential disasters.”
The municipalities receiving supplies from the the State Disaster Fund included Puerto Vallarta, Cabo Corrientes, Talpa de Allende, San Sebastián, Mascota, Cihuatlán, La Huerta, Tomatlán, Cuautitlán de García Barragán, Casimiro Castillo and Villa Purificación. Each municipality received 550 articles, valued at approximately 160,000 pesos.
