Buses to Resume Old Town Puerto Vallarta Routes on Monday

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico – On Monday, May 2, Puerto Vallarta buses will resume operations of the El Centro route, which crosses the entire center of the city.

After citizens made known the need for the buses to take the old routes, the head of Unibus PV, Luis Alberto Romero, told GST Media that, starting next week, the public transportation lines will return to normal.

After the Insurgentes street bridge, which crosses over the Rio Cuale and connects El Centro with the Romantic Zone, collapsed due to the heavy rains that followed the passing of Hurricane Nora last August, the bus routes were modified, and this generated a huge problem for those who live or work south of the city’s center.

The buses from the center stopped a block before the presidency and returned to Basilio Badillo through the tunnel, so those who needed to go further had to walk for several blocks to get to their destination.

The new bridge was inaugurated at the beginning of Semana Santa and citizens hoped that the buses would return to their old routes, but municipal authorities decided that it was best to wait until the holiday period was over.

Now that the two-week-long Easter vacation period is over, it has been confirmed that on Monday, May 2, the buses will return to their original routes, thus benefiting hundreds of people.
