Carnival Panorama Brings 5,677 Visitors to Puerto Vallarta

Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, Mexico – The arrival of the Carnival Panorama on Tuesday morning brought thousands of visitors to Puerto Vallarta, providing another boost for local businesses as the destination prepares for the busy winter cruise season.

The ship arrived at 8:30 am from Long Beach, California, with 4,249 passengers and 1,428 crew members aboard. After spending the day in port, it departed at 10:00 pm for Mazatlán, Sinaloa, continuing its Pacific voyage along Mexico’s western coast.

At 323 meters long and 37 meters wide, the massive vessel made an impressive sight in Banderas Bay. Operated by Carnival Cruise Line, the Carnival Panorama is a Vista-class ship based in Long Beach. Built by Italian shipbuilder Fincantieri in December 2016, it sails under the Panamanian flag.

During its stay, passengers had the opportunity to experience Puerto Vallarta’s many attractions. Some explored the Malecón and Historic Center, visited the Church of Our Lady of Guadalupe, or browsed local shops. Others headed to the beaches, sampled regional cuisine at restaurants, or joined organized excursions to explore the surrounding area.

The arrival also brought increased activity to the maritime terminal and nearby commercial areas, where tourism-related businesses benefit from cruise passengers spending time ashore.

According to information from the Puerto Vallarta offices of the National Port System Administration (ASIPONA), storm-related cancellations have affected this month’s cruise schedule. Of the 21 arrivals originally scheduled for October, the port now expects to record 17 by the end of the month.

Two more cruise ships are scheduled to visit before October closes. The Discovery Princess is expected on Wednesday, October 28, followed by the Norwegian Encore on Thursday, October 29.

With the arrival of November, Puerto Vallarta is preparing for one of its busiest periods for cruise tourism. More large vessels are expected in the coming weeks, bringing additional visitors to local restaurants, shops, tour operators, and other businesses that depend on tourism.

While weather conditions can still affect ship schedules, the return of regular cruise calls signals the start of the high season for maritime tourism in Banderas Bay.
