December is a Fun-Filled Month at Entreamigos San Pancho

San Pancho, Nayarit, Mexico – Entreamigos began in 2006 on a kitchen table in the middle of a San Pancho street. Today, housed in a giant warehouse recognized as a model sustainable facility, it is an active community center with classes and workshops, a scholarship program, a bilingual library for children and adults, a computer center, an extensive recycling program, a gift store and the Recicla thrift shop. Here’s what’s happening this month at Entreamigos:

NEW BOOKS FOR OUR LIBRARY

We are so grateful for the generous donations we received in the fall library fundraiser. Thanks to all of the incredible donations, our team was able to go the FIL (International Book Fair) in Guadalajara and purchase 58 new books for children, adolescents and adults.

Being the only library open to the public in a 25 mile radius, adding new books to our growing collection is a fundamental way to keep the library current and exciting for all its readers.

‘TIS THE SEASON

Hard to believe, but it’s that time of year again… holiday season! We start to think of gathering together as a family, sharing a meal and celebrating another passing year. As we have in years past, Entreamigos wants to make sure that every family in San Pancho has the opportunity to have a holiday meal with family.

This year our goal is to provide 150 families with food baskets in our holiday drive. To sponsor a food basket, please click HERE.

Additionally, you can Give the Gift of Giving and donate food basket in honor of a loved one. We often have that one person who already has everything…Give the Gift of Giving! Just fill out the form on the donate page and we will send your personalized message of your gift.

CALLING ALL ARTISTS

At Entreamigos we’re gearing up for our 15th annual Children’s Art Festival in January and February. Creativity is an important pillar of a community – the liberty to create is what keeps us inspired to have fun in our everyday lives, to learn and grow. It is a tool of life that enables us to transform our community with new ideas.

The vision of Entreamigos is to provide the children and families of San Pancho with the skills needed to contribute to their changing communities in a positive way. Cultivating opportunities, spaces and experiences that are educational, creative and full of artistic expression is an important part of the work at Entreamigos along with many other organizations and initiatives in the San Pancho area. One way in which we celebrate that vision is with the annual Festival de Arte Infantil.

Right now we are looking for local artists that would be interested in working with a small group of children (you pick your age group) for four to eight classes, where they can learn a technique and create a finished work that would be on display in the festival. If you’re interested in participating, please email info@entreamigos.org.mx.

SAVE THE DATES

December 21st – Holiday Party for the Town
Mark your calendars! Next Tuesday, December 21st 2:00pm – 4:00pm we will have a Holiday Afternoon at Entreamigos. In lieu of our traditional Holiday Party, and in an effort to avoid gathering a large group of people in a small space, this year we will have an entire afternoon of holiday fun utilizing all of Entreamigos’ open spaces.

This means 6 fun-filled centers like ornament making, mini-piñatas, write your letter of a wish to the world, design your own holiday card, cookie decorating and more!! Plus, we’ll have a special visitor from the north pole handing out candy to all the children. It’s a holiday celebration not to be missed. See you there!

January 13th – Scholarship Graduation Ceremony
This year we have two new college graduates from our Scholarship Program! Join us to celebrate their accomplishments!

February 17th – Children’s Art Festival and Gala
An evening of art, music, live auction, and more surprises!!

SUPPORT ENTREAMIGOS WHILE SHOPPING THIS HOLIDAY SEASON

We know that buying local is the best way to support our town economy, but sometimes we also need to make those online purchases. If you or your loved ones are using Amazon this holiday season, you can go to smile.amazon.com and enter Entreamigos as your beneficiary organization.

You can shop with your normal account and Entreamigos receives .5% of the price of your purchase at no additional cost to you. It’s an easy and convenient way of supporting this important work!

Thank you for making a difference in the lives of the children and families of San Pancho!
