Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, Mexico – With the 2026 U.S. elections approaching, Democrats Abroad Costa Banderas (DACB) is helping Americans living in Mexico prepare to vote from abroad. Throughout September, the organization will offer Vote From Abroad Help Centers and special ballot-return assistance in Puerto Vallarta and Bucerías.
DACB is encouraging eligible U.S. citizens to make their voting plans early, since voting from outside the United States can involve additional steps and deadlines. Trained voter assistants will be available to answer questions and provide guidance with voter registration, requesting ballots and returning completed ballots according to individual state requirements.
Puerto Vallarta Voting Assistance
For those who need assistance, DACB volunteers are offering Get Out the Vote support every Wednesday in September.
In Puerto Vallarta, voter assistance will be available September 2, 9 and 16 from 10 am to 12:30 pm at Whiskey Kitchen Restaurant, located upstairs at Insurgentes 108 in the Zona Romántica/Colonia Emiliano Zapata area. The restaurant is on the southwest side of the bridge over the Río Cuale.
Voter Assistance and Ballot Return Help will also be available on September 30 from 11:30 am to 2 pm at Nacho Daddy, located at Basilio Badillo 287 in Zona Romántica.
Bucerías Help Center
U.S. citizens in Bucerías can receive assistance every Wednesday in September. The sessions will take place September 2, 9, 16, 23 and 30 from 9 am to 1 pm at Restaurante Miguel Ángel on Venustiano Carranza in Plaza Bucerías.
The trained voter assistants can help voters understand the requirements for voting from abroad and work through the steps needed to submit their ballots properly.
Special Ballot Return Assistance
DACB will also hold a two-day special ballot-return event September 22 and 23 at Nacho Daddy in Puerto Vallarta. Voter assistants will be available from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm and again from 2:30 to 3:30 pm.
The event is designed to help voters from states that require ballots to be returned by mail rather than electronically. These include Arkansas, Connecticut, Georgia, Idaho, Illinois, Iowa, Kentucky, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, New Hampshire, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, Vermont, Wisconsin and Wyoming.
Following the assistance sessions, voters will have the option of walking together to the nearby DHL office on Calle Basilio Badillo, approximately 170 meters away, to send their ballots to the U.S. Embassy in Mexico City. The Embassy will then forward the ballots to the U.S. Postal Service for delivery to the appropriate election offices.
Voters attending the special event should bring their printed ballots, identification or signature pages, security envelopes and USPS ballot-return envelopes exactly as they were provided, along with the accompanying instructions. Those who received their materials electronically should have access to the original instructions.
Voter assistants also recommend having access to the Federal Post Card Application (FPCA), which can help confirm the identification information and signature used during the voting process. Limited printing services and some blank USPS ballot-return envelopes will be available, although supplies may be limited.

For Americans living outside the United States, preparing early can help avoid last-minute problems with registration, ballot requests and return requirements. DACB’s September events are intended to make that process easier for eligible voters in the Costa Banderas area.
