Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, Mexico – With applause, mariachi music, flowers, and plenty of emotion, Isabel Medina Acevedo was officially crowned Miss Intercontinental Jalisco 2026 on Saturday, September 12, marking the beginning of her journey toward the national competition.
The 27-year-old Puerto Vallarta content creator and social work graduate will represent Jalisco at the Miss Intercontinental Mexico competition in Querétaro at the end of October. The national winner will go on to represent Mexico at the international pageant in Egypt in January.
The coronation took place at the CECATI 63 auditorium, surrounded by family, friends, authorities, sponsors, and supporters who have joined Isabel’s project.
A lively mariachi performance set the tone for the night, seamlessly transitioning into an elegant classical set by pianist Salvatore Rodríguez. Local business owners, regional brands, and community sponsors backed the event, treating guests to tailored cocktails and hors d’oeuvres while rallying behind their new representative.
The evening’s defining moment came when Isabel received her crown. Visibly moved, she thanked those who have supported her and offered an encouraging message to young people working toward their own goals.
“Today I receive not only this crown, but also a great opportunity to show who I am and to represent and uphold Puerto Vallarta and all of Jalisco,” she said. “Dreams do come true, and we are also surprised to see how far we are capable of going.”
For Isabel, the title is about more than appearance. Her responsibilities over the coming months will include community outreach, charitable activities, meetings, and tourism promotion throughout Jalisco.
As Miss Intercontinental Jalisco, she plans to visit municipalities and regions across the state, including coastal and mountain communities. Through those activities, she will promote Jalisco’s culture, identity, attractions, and hospitality while continuing her preparation for the national competition in Querétaro.
Founded in 1971 in Aruba as Miss Teenage Intercontinental, the organization originally began as a promotional campaign to boost island tourism. Over the past five decades, it dropped the teen title, expanded its reach, and matured into Miss Intercontinental, one of the longest-running pageants in the world, now drawing competitors from more than 60 countries.
For now, Isabel’s attention is on Querétaro. Reaching the international stage will require preparation in areas ranging from physical conditioning and stage presence to cultural knowledge and personal development.
From Puerto Vallarta, she begins that next chapter with a crown, a demanding schedule ahead, and the support of a community eager to see where her journey leads.
