Mexico will Close 2021 with 28 States in Green, 4 in Yellow

Mexico City – On December 24, the Health Secretary (SSa) de Mexico made known that the Epidemiological traffic light for COVID-19 for the country will be in force from December 27 until January 9, and will have 28 states in Green and four in Yellow.

The entities that will be in Green color will be: Baja California Sur, Campeche, Chiapas, Mexico City, Coahuila, Colima, Durango, State of Mexico, Guanajuato, Guerrero, Hidalgo, Jalisco, Michoacán, Morelos, Nayarit, Nuevo León, Oaxaca, Puebla, Querétaro, Quintana Roo, San Luis Potosí, Sinaloa, Tabasco, Tamaulipas, Tlaxcala, Veracruz, Yucatán and Zacatecas.

While the states of Aguascalientes, Baja California, Chihuahua and Sonora will be on the Yellow Traffic Light.

COVID IN MEXICO

In its daily technical report, the Ministry of Health reported that the country registered 162 new deaths from COVID-19 to reach 298,670 total deaths and 3,518 new infections for a total of 3,947,284.

With these figures, Mexico remains the fourth country with the most deaths from COVID-19, behind the United States, Brazil and India, and the fifteenth in number of confirmed infections, according to the Johns Hopkins University count.

Of the number of cases, there are 20 thousand 989 active, who have presented symptoms during the last 14 days and account for 0.5 percent of the total. In addition, since the beginning of the pandemic, three million 297 thousand 421 people have been recovered.

Regarding deaths, Mexico City, the focus of the pandemic, accounts for about 18 percent of all deaths nationwide.

NATIONAL VACCINATION STRATEGY

The authorities also indicated that within the vaccination program, 148.5 million doses have been applied, adding 182,956 during the last day.

Of its 126 million inhabitants, 81.9 million in the country have at least one dose of the vaccine, that is, 87 percent of the total population of legal age.

Of that total, 89 percent (72.69 million) have completed their vaccination schedule.

The Ministry of Health indicated that vaccination against COVID-19 continues for laggards and pregnant women from 18 years of age. He also pointed out that the immunization of young people between 15 and 17 years of age and the application of the booster dose for people over 60 years of age is making good progress.
