November 2021 News from PuRR Project Puerto Vallarta

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico – The latest news from PuRR Project, a non-profit, no-kill feline shelter located just north of Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, that provides homeless cats and kittens a recuperative stay with the ultimate goal of adopting them out to loving homes sterilized, vaccinated and disease free.

UPCOMING EVENTS: GARAGE SALE DECEMBER 4

It’s been MANY months since we’ve had any “Upcoming Events” to talk about! Three huge Garage Sales had to be cancelled during the worst of the pandemic. So we have lots of goodies to offer at this one… and a good chance to Christmas shop! It will be a combination garage and yard sale so we will have plenty of space to spread all the tables out and help maintain social distancing. Masks will be required at the entrance. So mark your PuRR calendar for Saturday morning, December 4th.

If you have items you could like to contribute, they can be dropped off the week before at Gaviotas 143 in the Marina. Contact Bama at info(at)purrproject.com to coordinate a time or if you need someone to pick up your donations.

THE PURR NURSERY

We are still busting at the seams with 61 kittens in the clinic or various casitas. October adoptions at PetCo numbered 10 but we also had 16 new babies dumped over the shelter fence……so we are still desperate to find homes for a lot of kittens before they have to be released into the yard. We try to release only the ones who are not responding well to human contact and the ones who are older and can’t compete with the younger ones that most people prefer to adopt.

We are at PetCo every Saturday and Sunday EXCEPT the weekend of November 13/14 when we will be assisting the PetCo Street Foundation with a free sterilization clinic for 300 cats & dogs. It will be at the La Lija stadium and reservations can be made by calling 322-136-8707.

We also need little CAT TOYS… mice or anything with feathers! They can be purchased at PetCo and dropped off with a volunteer at the Adoption Center on weekends.

VIRTUAL ADOPTIONS

One of the ways to support the many cats who live in the yard at the PuRR shelter is to “virtually” adopt one… or TWO!! Volunteer Shanti Doelger recently decided to do just that when she became very fond of “Gris” who follows her around on her weekly shelter visits! (She and husband Bob already had one cat they had virtually adopted.)

Gris (“Gray” in Spanish) was brought to live at the shelter by Dra. Eva around four years ago after she had been abandoned at the vet clinic with a broken leg. She can live out her life there in safety and dignity. If YOU would like to virtually adopt a cat or give one as a gift to a friend, you will find all the candidates and other info on our website.

GRACIAS! THANKS! MERCI! DANKE! ARIGATO!

We could not continue to feed and care for the over 300 shelter residents without the help of your donations! Our gratitude goes to: Richard Robertson, Gary Phillips, Shannon Campbell, Sharon & Ken Rose, Pat & Sandy Glenn, Trisha Aljoe, Vivian Moos, Heidi Benedict, Jerry Petrizzo, Sue Dreifus, Robert Weed, Elizabeth Fuerherm and JaLene Taylor.

Also a shout-out to those who recently renewed their Virtual Adoptions: Laurie Rice, Steve Stowell, Pam Tanora, Judy Wolfinger, Janice North, Melissa & David Wright, Shanti & Bob Doelger.

And a special thanks to new volunteer Gail Isaacs who, after her first visit to the shelter, cannot wait for another chance to spend cuddle time in the nursery (as well as cleaning litter boxes, giving manicures and bathing kittens!)
