Puerto Vallarta, Mexico – We are thrilled to announce the launch of Paws and Claws Puerto Vallarta, a non-profit organization committed to ensuring that dogs and cats in the Vallarta area lead a life free from the pain and suffering of abandonment and neglect. We achieve this by providing and supporting free sterilization, rescue, shelter, adoption, fostering and community education. We strive to provide collaboration, support and financial assistance to our area’s many animal welfare individuals and groups.
Puerto Vallarta is home to countless animals that face dire situations, including abandonment, abuse, and neglect. Paws and Claws Puerto Vallarta is passionate about changing these heartbreaking circumstances by providing help to these innocent creatures. Through our network of dedicated volunteers and partnerships with local shelters and rescue groups, we strive to provide help to as many animals as possible, giving them a chance at a brighter future.
Many of the volunteers who provide help to dogs and cats work endless hours to take them from the streets, feed them and provide them with medical care. Several rescuers take as many as 15-20 animals at a time to free spay and neuter clinics.
In addition to providing assistance for the basic necessities such as food, water and litter for the rescued animals, costs for items such as medicines and petrol for transporting the animals all comes out of the rescuer’s pockets. One of our goals is to help these rescuers cover these costs.
Paws and Claws Puerto Vallarta firmly believes that education and community engagement are also keys to creating lasting change. The organization and its volunteers are committed to raising awareness about responsible pet ownership, spaying and neutering and the importance of treating animals with compassion and respect.
Paws and Claws Puerto Vallarta was formed by Ron Harner, a long-time animal advocate and donor, Stephen and Glenda Bland, also long-time animal advocates and coordinators of Cuale Spay and Neuter Clinics, and Dr. Juan Tamayo, well-known veterinarian and animal lover. They are supported by an Advisory Committee who are in constant touch with the needs of the community of rescuers, shelters and spay and neuter clinics.
