Vallarta Among Top 10 Winter Destinations for Americans

Puerto Vallarta remains a top winter destination for American tourists, according to a recent survey by travel insurance specialist Allianz Partners. The survey analyzed over 3.1 million travel plans for round-trip flights originating from US airports between December 16 and 29, revealing a significant increase in preference for international destinations during the festive season.

This year, international trips make up 21% of bookings, compared to just 11% the previous year. The report indicates that Mexican beaches are particularly popular, ranking higher than the Bahamas, France, and Aruba.

Luis Villaseñor Nolasco, director of Fidetur, attributes Puerto Vallarta’s success to its excellent connectivity and easy access for North American visitors. “The green pearl of the Mexican Pacific boasts over 40 direct air routes operating to and from the city’s International Airport, significantly increasing international passenger traffic,” he said.

Hoteliers in Puerto Vallarta are already reporting occupancy rates above 80%, reaching 95% on some days. They are anticipating an even busier December holiday season, with reservations reaching 100% for some dates.

Vanessa Pérez Lamas, Jalisco Secretary of Tourism, confirms this trend. “We expect hotel occupancy to increase and close December with very good numbers, between 85 and 95% for the end-of-year season,” she said.

These positive forecasts further solidify Puerto Vallarta’s position as a top winter destination for American tourists. With its beautiful beaches, excellent weather, and vibrant culture, Puerto Vallarta offers the perfect escape from the cold winter months.
