Puerto Vallarta Cruise Activity Builds as Low Season Ends

Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, Mexico – Puerto Vallarta is seeing a welcome increase in cruise activity as the summer low season begins to wind down. September brings eight scheduled cruise ship visits, giving local businesses that depend on cruise tourism a stronger start to the month.

The month opened with the September 1 arrival of Navigator of the Seas, which is scheduled to return on September 15. The Royal Caribbean ship typically brings nearly 4,000 passengers to Puerto Vallarta during each visit.

Carnival Panorama will make three visits this month, arriving on September 10, 17 and 29. The ship brings close to 5,000 passengers during each call, creating significant opportunities for restaurants, tour operators, transportation providers, retailers and other businesses.

One of September’s busiest days will come on September 23, when Island Princess and Brilliant Lady are scheduled to arrive at the same time. The month will conclude with Carnival Panorama on September 29, followed by Brilliant Lady on September 30.

According to the National Port System Administration (ASIPONA), the eight scheduled arrivals are spread across five weeks. While September remains part of the traditionally slower cruise season, the steady flow of ships provides an important boost for businesses and service providers that rely on visiting passengers.

The increase also signals what is ahead. October marks the beginning of the high cruise season, when Puerto Vallarta is expected to welcome more ships and larger numbers of cruise travelers.

As the port moves toward its busier months, visitors can expect the same mix of excursions, local cuisine, shopping and cultural experiences that make Puerto Vallarta a popular stop on Mexico’s Pacific coast.
