Puerto Vallarta Half Marathon Scheduled for December 6, 2026

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico – The second edition of the Puerto Vallarta Half Marathon will take place Sunday, December 6, bringing together runners from across Mexico and abroad for 21K and 5K races. Organizers are expecting 1,500 participants, up from the 1,250 who took part last year.

The event was officially announced at a press conference attended by organizers and municipal authorities. Representing Mayor Luis Munguía, Councilor Erika García, president of the Recreation and Sports Commission, highlighted the importance of promoting sports and encouraging younger generations to lead active lifestyles. She also reaffirmed the city’s support for initiatives that benefit the community.

Humberto Muñoz Vargas, the event’s general director, announced that both races will start at 6:30 am at the Puerto Vallarta International Convention Center, which will also serve as the finish line. The route will follow Paseo de las Flores, Grandes Lagos, and Francisco Medina Ascencio.

The official race shirt and medal were also unveiled. Their designs feature familiar Puerto Vallarta landmarks, including the Parish of Our Lady of Guadalupe, Los Arcos de Mismaloya, and the city’s traditional rooftops.

A total of 250,000 pesos in prizes will be distributed among the age categories and overall winners, with a special award for the top local runners in the 21K.

The half marathon categories are Free (18–39), Masters (40–49), Veterans (50–59), and Veterans Plus (60 and older). The 5K is open to all ages, although minors must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Last year, approximately 80 percent of participants came from outside Puerto Vallarta, highlighting the race’s contribution to sports tourism. Organizers hope to build on that success with this year’s goal of 1,500 runners.

Registration costs 800 pesos for the 21K and 700 pesos for the 5K. Both packages include a commemorative shirt and bag, a finisher’s medal, timing chip, course hydration, finish-line refreshments, and medical insurance coverage under the established policy.

Sponsors include Repostería Los Chatos, Embotelladora AGA, and Hospital Joya, which will provide paramedic and medical support.

Registration is available at Los Chatos Bakery locations, the Agustín Flores Contreras Sports Complex (ask for Luigi), via WhatsApp at 322-319-2002, or online at Marcate.com.mx. Electronic payment fees may apply, including a 10 percent commission.

Race kits must be collected Saturday, December 5, between 8:00 am and 6:00 pm at the International Convention Center. Runners who fail to pick up their packages during those hours will forfeit their registration fees. If spaces remain, additional registrations will be accepted at the Expo Medio Maratón Puerto Vallarta 2026 during the same hours.
