Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, Mexico – As the Christmas festivities wind down, residents looking to dispose of their natural pine Christmas trees have an eco-friendly option this year. The Municipal Public Services of Puerto Vallarta, under the guidance of Mayor Professor Michel, has set up six collection centers to ensure proper disposal and prevent discarded trees from cluttering sidewalks and streets.
According to Ascensión Gil Calleja, the director of Municipal Public Services, the collection points will be strategically located for residents’ convenience. These include the Agustín Flores Contreras Sports Unit, with a designated area near the basketball courts, the Aurora Sports Court behind the DIF offices, and a central location in Ixtapa within the municipal delegation.
Additional collection points will be established at the Alfonso Diaz Santos Sports Unit in the Bobadilla neighborhood, the La Lija Sports and Cultural Center in Coapinole, and the Infonavit CTM Fractionation Field situated on González Gallo and Javier Mina avenues.
“We are here to serve the citizens, and one of our annual initiatives is to assist those looking to dispose of their Christmas trees responsibly,” explained Mr. Gil Calleja. He urged residents to drop off their trees in the afternoons, specifying that collection would occur primarily in the morning.
The collection centers opened on January 8 and wiil continue to accept trees through January 20. It’s important to note that no staff will be present at the collection points. Instead, residents can leave their trees at the designated locations, and Municipal Public Services will conduct continuous rounds to gather the trees and transport them for recycling or composting.
This initiative aligns with the city’s commitment to environmental sustainability and offers an easy and accessible solution for residents to contribute to the community’s green efforts.
