Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, Mexico – Beginning Wednesday, July 15, Puerto Vallarta will implement a new garbage collection schedule designed to improve service efficiency, reduce waste accumulation, and help keep the city cleaner for both residents and visitors.
The updated program introduces revised collection routes and designated pickup days for neighborhoods throughout the city. Municipal officials said the changes are intended to optimize garbage truck operations while encouraging residents to dispose of household waste only during their neighborhood’s scheduled collection times.
Under the new system, garbage collection will take place during two daily shifts. Morning routes will begin at 6:30 am, while evening routes will start at 7:00 pm.
Several neighborhoods will continue to receive daily morning service, including the Hotel Zone, Olas Altas, Emiliano Zapata, El Centro, Boca de Tomatlán, Mismaloya, Las Juntas, Las Palmas, El Colorado, Alta Vista, La Aurora, Jardines del Puerto, and Villas del Puerto.
Other areas, including Versalles, Fluvial Vallarta, Díaz Ordaz, Pitillal Centro, Ramblases, Bobadilla, La Moderna, Los Mangos, Playa Grande, La Floresta, and Vista Bahía, among others, will receive daily evening collection.
The new schedule also includes neighborhoods that will receive service four days a week. Guadalupe Victoria, Villa Las Flores, Airport, and Rincón del Puerto will have morning pickups on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays, and Sundays.
Meanwhile, neighborhoods such as Las Aralias, Los Sauces, Jardines de Vallarta, Coapinole, Vista Hermosa, Independencia, Ixtapa Centro, Villas Universidad, Costa Dorada, Nuevo Ixtapa, Magisterio, and Villas del Real will receive evening collection on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays.
Additional residential developments, including Paseos Universidad, Sendero de Luna, Parques Universidad, Colinas de la Bahía, and Sendero del Parque, will have evening pickups on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays, and Sundays.
Dozens of neighborhoods, including Boca de Tomates, El Hundido, Las Guásimas, Las Higueras, Los Llanitos, Rancho Nácar, Ojo de Agua, Arboledas, Los Timbres, Nuevo Ranchito, Villas Mojoneras, Buenos Aires, Paso Ancho, Benito Juárez, López Mateos, Bugambilias, Agua Azul, Aramara, La Joya, Olímpica, and 5 de Diciembre, will receive morning collection on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays.
Municipal officials are encouraging residents to review the collection schedule for their neighborhood and place garbage outside only at the designated pickup time. Putting trash out too early or after the truck has passed can lead to litter on public streets, unpleasant odors, and potential public health concerns.
By following the updated schedule, residents can help improve the efficiency of waste collection services while contributing to a cleaner, more attractive Puerto Vallarta for everyone.
