Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, Mexico – Puerto Vallarta will welcome six international cruise ship visits in August, marking a modest increase over recent months and doubling the number of arrivals recorded during the same month last year. The schedule, released by the National Port System Administration (ASIPONA), offers an encouraging sign as the destination moves through the traditional summer low season.
The month begins with its only double-ship arrival on Tuesday, August 4, when the Carnival Panorama and the Navigator of the Seas dock in Puerto Vallarta. The simultaneous visit is expected to bring thousands of passengers into the city, providing a welcome boost for local restaurants, shops, tour operators, and other tourism-related businesses.
Following its first August visit, the Navigator of the Seas is scheduled to return on Tuesday, August 11, and again on Tuesday, August 18. The Carnival Panorama will make one additional stop on Thursday, August 20.
The month’s final cruise ship arrival will be the Crystal Symphony on August 28. Although smaller than many of the vessels that regularly visit Puerto Vallarta, the luxury ship carries just over 600 passengers and is expected to contribute to the city’s tourism activity during the closing days of the month.
Cruise tourism has remained steady throughout 2026 despite the seasonal slowdown. Puerto Vallarta has welcomed 95 cruise ship arrivals so far this year, nearly matching the 96 recorded during the same period in 2025. The consistent schedule highlights the destination’s ongoing appeal among major cruise lines.
Looking ahead, the outlook becomes even stronger. The annual cruise high season is expected to begin around the middle of September, when visits from larger ships increase significantly. ASIPONA’s current schedule already includes ten cruise ship arrivals for September, signaling the start of a much busier period for the port.
As the season gains momentum, local tourism providers are preparing to welcome thousands of additional visitors, whose spending supports businesses across Puerto Vallarta and contributes to the area’s tourism-driven economy.
