Saturday Shopping at the Olas Altas Farmers’ Market

Puerto Vallarta’s popular Olas Altas Farmers’ Market is getting ready to welcome shoppers back to Lázaro Cárdenas Park for its 18th season. The weekly Saturday market opens November 7, bringing together local farmers, food producers, artisans, and community organizations for another season of shopping, dining, and socializing.

Open every Saturday from 9 am to 2 pm throughout the season, the market features approximately 100 vendors, all of whom live and produce their goods within 50 miles of Puerto Vallarta. This commitment to local businesses gives shoppers an opportunity to discover products made right here in the Banderas Bay region while supporting the people behind them.

Food lovers will find plenty to enjoy, from fresh farm-to-table produce and locally made specialties to artisan cheeses, meats, and baked goods. The aromas of freshly baked bread and freshly ground coffee fill the park, making it easy to stop for a treat while browsing the many stalls.

Beyond the food offerings, visitors can explore a wide selection of handmade arts, crafts, and personal care products. Vendors offer everything from custom bathing suits, sandals, and jewelry to home accessories and all-natural skincare. Traditional Mexican musical instruments and hand-rolled cigars add to the variety, providing plenty of interesting finds for shoppers looking for something different.

The market offers more than shopping, too. Visitors can arrange professional massages or chiropractic services while nonprofit organizations use the weekly gathering to introduce their community projects, share information, and promote upcoming activities.

When it’s time for a break, the popular food court offers a tempting selection of dishes representing several cuisines, including Mexican, Argentine, and East Indian. Ice cream and refreshing beverages round out the choices, making the market a pleasant place to enjoy breakfast, lunch, or a snack with friends.

Located in Lázaro Cárdenas Park, kitty-corner from Daiquiri Dick’s at the corner of Carranza and Olas Altas, the market also offers a lovely setting for a Saturday morning outing. Visitors can admire the park’s colorful mosaic artwork while exploring the stalls and enjoying the neighborhood atmosphere.

Welcoming to both residents and tourists, the Olas Altas Farmers’ Market is pet-friendly and wheelchair accessible. Convenient parking is available in the underground garage, making it easy for visitors to stop by and spend a few hours exploring.

Whether shopping for locally produced foods, searching for handmade gifts, enjoying a meal, or simply catching up with friends, the market offers something for everyone. For vendor information, weekly updates, and seasonal announcements, visit the Olas Altas Farmers’ Market Facebook page.
