Special Puerto Vallarta Naval Museum Night October 31

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico – The Puerto Vallarta Naval Museum will open its doors after hours on October 31 for the ninth edition of its “Night at the Museum” program, an evening celebrating Mexico’s naval history, traditions, and culture with hands-on activities, demonstrations, workshops, and live music.

This month’s celebration carries extra significance as it honors the 205th anniversary of the founding of the Mexican Navy, established on October 4, 1821. From 6 to 9:30 pm, visitors of all ages can discover the work of Mexico’s naval forces through interactive exhibits, artistic activities, and musical performances.

Throughout the evening, guests can explore demonstrations by the Marine Corps Infantry and the Navy’s Search and Rescue Station (ENSAR), along with a presentation by the Navy’s K-9 canine unit. Those interested in maritime skills can participate in a nautical knot-tying workshop, while drawing and choreography workshops offer opportunities for visitors to get creative. Live music by Dan Gutiérrez and Grupo Galeón will round out the program.

Beyond the special activities, the museum offers plenty to explore inside its 16 exhibition rooms, which trace the development of Mexico’s naval forces and the country’s maritime traditions. Each room provides a different perspective on the Navy’s history, mission, and role in protecting the nation’s coastlines and ports.

Among the highlights is the “Values” Room, which introduces visitors to the principles and identity that guide the Mexican Navy. The “April 21st” Room commemorates the historic defense of the Port of Veracruz, an important episode in Mexico’s naval history. Visitors can also try the museum’s popular navigation simulator, which offers a hands-on introduction to piloting a vessel at sea.

Organized as part of the museum’s ongoing cultural program, Night at the Museum provides an opportunity for residents and visitors to learn more about Mexico’s naval heritage in an accessible, family-friendly setting. The Puerto Vallarta Institute of Culture (Instituto Vallartense de Cultura) invites everyone to attend, highlighting the event’s role in encouraging cultural participation, education, and community engagement.

Admission is 60 pesos for the general public, with a reduced rate of 45 pesos for students, teachers, children, and senior citizens.

The ninth edition of Night at the Museum takes place Friday, October 31, from 6 to 9:30 pm at the Puerto Vallarta Naval Museum, located at Calle Zaragoza #4 in El Centro. Visitors are invited to enjoy an evening that combines history, art, music, and a closer look at the traditions of the Mexican Navy.
