Puerto Vallarta, Mexico – Every year on April 30th, Mexico observes Children’s Day, a nationwide celebration honoring children and childhood. This day underscores the significance of children in society and their well-being.
In Puerto Vallarta, the System for Integral Family Development (DIF) has initiated a toy donation campaign called “Smiles of the Heart” to commemorate El Día Del Niño this year. Roberto Ramos Vázquez, the Director of DIF, highlights the importance of toys in fostering children’s happiness and development.
“We want to give our vulnerable children a reason to smile this Children’s Day. We encourage everyone to join the Toy Drive, because every toy that is donated will be a sign of community solidarity and the commitment we have for those who have less,” he said.
“It doesn’t have to be an expensive toy, the most important thing is to put a smile on the faces of the children of Puerto Vallarta,” he added.
The campaign welcomes donations of new, non-violent toys in good condition, with no batteries required. Donations can be made from Monday to Friday, 8:00 am to 4:00 pm, at the DIF headquarters on Avenida Paseo de las Palmas S/N in Barrio Santa María. The deadline for donations is April 19th.
In addition to celebrating Children’s Day, the campaign aims to promote awareness of children’s rights and address child violence. In the weeks leading up to April’s end, the collected toys will be distributed alongside recreational and integration activities in various delegations and municipal agencies across Puerto Vallarta.
