Puerto Vallarta will once again become a meeting point for culinary talent when Vallarta-Nayarit Gastronómica returns October 4–7 for its 18th edition. More than 80 chefs, mixologists and other culinary experts from Mexico and abroad are expected to participate.
The 2026 edition, themed Descubriendo una Nueva Realidad (“Discovering a New Reality”), will be centered at the Sheraton Buganvilias Puerto Vallarta and will highlight gastronomy as an important part of the region’s tourism appeal.
The event brings together Jalisco and Nayarit in an effort to strengthen the destination’s profile through food, local products and culinary experiences. Participants will come from Mexico, Spain, the United States, Brazil, the Dominican Republic and Chile.
Promoting Jalisco Through Food
Michelle Fridman Hirsch, head of the Jalisco Tourism Secretariat, emphasized the state’s culinary heritage and the range of products and experiences that support its gastronomic identity. These include traditional ingredients, products with designations of origin and established culinary routes.
She said the state will continue using gastronomy to generate economic opportunities while promoting Jalisco in both Mexican and international markets.
Guest chefs will contribute their expertise while also introducing visitors and fellow culinary professionals to products and traditions from Jalisco.
A Showcase of Local Talent
Jalisco’s delegation will include chefs Francisco Ruano, Xrysw Ruelas and Óscar Segundo, who will represent the state alongside some of its best-known culinary products.
Among the featured ingredients and beverages will be Yahualica chili, raicilla and tequila, giving participants an opportunity to experience flavors closely associated with Jalisco.
The four-day program will include live cooking demonstrations, gourmet workshops, premium tastings and keynote presentations. National and international chefs and mixologists will take part throughout the event.
Activities will extend beyond Puerto Vallarta, with events planned in San Sebastián del Oeste, Riviera Nayarit and Bucerías.
Carlos Elizondo and Consuelo Elipe, directors of Vallarta-Nayarit Gastronómica, joined representatives from Nayarit, the restaurant industry and the private sector for the presentation of the 2026 edition. Participants highlighted the event’s role in bringing greater attention to the region as a culinary and tourism destination.
With its combination of international talent and local ingredients, Vallarta-Nayarit Gastronómica 2026 is expected to give visitors another reason to explore the region through its food.
