VidantaWorld Mexico Open Brings PGA TOUR Stars to Vallarta

Riviera Nayarit, Mexico – World-class golf is returning to Puerto Vallarta this fall as the PGA TOUR descends on the Mexican Pacific for the 2026 VidantaWorld Mexico Open. Scheduled from October 29 through November 1, the official tournament moves to an autumn slot for the first time, aligning the high-stakes action with the region’s famous Day of the Dead festivities.

The four-day golf competition will take place at the VidantaWorld Vallarta Course, designed by Greg Norman, bringing together 120 players competing for a $6 million USD purse and 500 FedExCup points.

The event also holds special significance this year as it joins the Mexican Golf Federation in celebrating its 100th anniversary, further solidifying Mexico’s status as a premier stage for professional sports.

Fans watching the action can expect a star-studded lineup that blends seasoned veterans with rising talent. Headlining the field are two-time U.S. Open champion Wyndham Clark, 2023 tournament champion Tony Finau, and former U.S. Open winner Lucas Glover.

Defending champion Brian Campbell also returns to Nuevo Nayarit to protect his title. Joining these tour veterans are some of the sport’s most promising young stars, including U.S. Open Low Amateur Ryder Cowan, Southern Amateur champion John Daly Jr., and prodigy Blades Brown.

Local fans will have plenty to cheer for as five Mexican golfers step onto the global stage. UNC Health Championship winner Álvaro Ortiz, Big Ten champion Omar Morales, and Latin America Amateur champion Santiago de la Fuente lead the national contingent. They are joined by Mauricio Figueroa and Alejandro Fierro, who fought their way into the main field through a high-pressure Monday Qualifier.

Since joining the PGA TOUR schedule in 2022, the Mexico Open has helped raise the international profile of Puerto Vallarta and neighboring Riviera Nayarit. The tournament reaches viewers in more than 200 countries through international broadcasts. Coverage of the 2026 event is scheduled for Golf Channel, NBC and the PGA TOUR World Feed.

For fans attending in person, the golf will be part of a broader entertainment offering at VidantaWorld Vallarta–Nuevo Nayarit. Among the attractions is LUDÕ, the resident Cirque du Soleil production created specifically for the destination. Presented in a custom-designed theater, the show features a 360-degree stage with water playing a central role in the performance.

The tournament also falls during Day of the Dead weekend, offering visitors an opportunity to experience Mexican traditions, food and cultural celebrations alongside the sporting event.

Another attraction planned for tournament week is a private preview of BON Luxury Theme Park, an ambitious entertainment project within VidantaWorld. The park is being developed around a concept that combines nature, technology, gastronomy and attractions, with an emphasis on presenting Mexico through a new entertainment experience.

With major champions returning to compete, young players seeking their breakthrough and Mexican golfers taking on an international field, the VidantaWorld Mexico Open continues to build its place on the PGA TOUR calendar. Its fall scheduling also gives visitors an opportunity to combine professional golf with Day of the Dead festivities and the destination’s growing entertainment offerings.
