Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, Mexico – Guadalajara is expanding its air connections with the United States as Volaris prepares to launch five new nonstop routes, giving travelers in Jalisco more direct access to major American cities.
The new services are part of the state government’s efforts to strengthen air connectivity and encourage greater economic, tourism and cultural exchange between Jalisco and the U.S.
“…we are working hard to make it the best connected,” Governor Pablo Lemus Navarro said of Guadalajara International Airport, which he proudly noted has been recognized as the best airport in Latin America.
The airport is expected to offer more than 65 destinations and operate more than 100 daily flights beginning October 2, further establishing Guadalajara as Volaris’ main operations center.
Five New Connections
The first two new routes, to Atlanta and Washington Dulles, begin October 2. Three additional services – Boston, Raleigh-Durham and Nashville – are scheduled to start October 15.
Washington Dulles, Nashville and Raleigh-Durham will each operate three flights per week, while Atlanta and Boston will have four weekly departures.
The destinations were selected for their importance to business, education, technology, tourism and cultural exchange.
Boston is a major center for education, science and innovation. Raleigh-Durham is part of North Carolina’s Research Triangle, a leading hub for technology and research. Atlanta provides access to the southeastern United States and serves as a major business and logistics center.
Washington Dulles connects travelers from western Mexico with the Washington D.C. metropolitan area, while Nashville offers a new direct option to Tennessee and the city widely known as the world capital of country music.
Together, the five routes give travelers from Jalisco and surrounding states more options for reaching the United States without a connecting flight. They are also expected to make it easier for American travelers to visit Guadalajara and explore other destinations across Jalisco.
Volaris also connects Guadalajara with Puerto Vallarta, with flights operating every day of the week. The short nonstop flight takes less than an hour, providing a convenient option for travelers moving between two of Jalisco’s major destinations.
Boost for Tourism and Business
Jalisco Tourism Secretary Michelle Fridman Hirsch said the new services strengthen the state’s relationship with the United States while creating additional opportunities for commercial, cultural and tourism exchanges.
The United States is already the leading market for Jalisco’s current air expansion. Of the 49 new routes opened during the current administration, 28 connect Jalisco with U.S. cities.
For Volaris, Guadalajara has become a key part of its international strategy. The airline has operated in the United States for 15 years and now serves 28 cities there.
Holger Blankenstein, Volaris’ Executive Vice President of Commercial and Operations, said the additional routes will give customers more direct travel choices, help families reunite and provide access to new American markets.
Tickets are already on sale through Volaris’ website and official app, with introductory international fares starting at US$90.
For Guadalajara and Jalisco, the expanded service is about more than adding destinations to an airport schedule. Greater air access can help attract visitors and investment while creating easier connections between businesses, families and communities on both sides of the border.
