Friday, September 13
Anniversary of the Battle of Chapultepec Castle

9:00 am: Civic ceremony to honor the Boy Heroes of Chapultepec. Roll call, wreath and honor guard in the main square of Pitillal.

Saturday, September 14
El Día Nacional del Charro

9:00 am: 2019 Softball Independence Cup on the softball field at the Agustín Flores Contreras municipal sports stadium

11:00 am: Traditional Charro Parade with La Unión de Asociaciones de Charros de Puerto Vallarta beginning at Plaza Lázaro Cárdenas, and ends at Calle Morelos and the Malecón.

Sunday, September 15
209th Anniversary of “El Grito de Independencia”

8:00 am: Flag Raising Ceremony – the Mexican flag will be hoisted and the National anthem will be sung in the Plaza de Armas (Main Plaza downtown)

9:00 am: 2019 Softball Independence Cup on the softball field at the Agustín Flores Contreras municipal sports stadium

8:00 pm: Puerto Vallarta Municipal Band Concert on the Malecón

9:00 pm: Performance by the Four Tenors musical group, accompanied by Mariachi Internacional and the Grupo Xiutla Folclorico Municipal Dance troupe

10:45 pm: Traditional El Grito Ceremony – Puerto Vallarta Mayor Arturo Dávalos Peña will deliver “El Grito,” reenacting the historic cry for independence from the City Hall balcony.

11:30 pm: Performance by Grupo Latino Johanna’s Band on the Malecón

Monday, September 16 – National Holiday
209th Anniversary of Mexico’s War of Independence

8:00 am: A civic ceremony at Hidalgo Park commemorates the anniversary of the day Mexico’s War of Independence began in 1810.

10:00 am: Traditional civic and military parade, starting at Plaza Lázaro Cárdenas, winding through the main streets of Puerto Vallarta, and ending at Calle Morelos and the Malecón.

Banks, government offices and about half of the businesses in Puerto Vallarta will be closed in observance of the holiday, but plenty of restaurants will be open so you can wrap up the festivities with an authentic Mexican dinner.
