Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico – Global electronics firm Universal Scientific Industrial (USI) has inaugurated an $82 million USD plant in Tonalá, Jalisco, its second facility in the Guadalajara metropolitan area.

The new site, located in the Axis Industrial Park, officially opened on July 16 with government and business leaders in attendance, including Jalisco Governor Enrique Alfaro and Economic Development Minister Roberto Arechederra.

USI’s new Tonalá plant aims to become a hub for technological innovation and economic growth in the region. The company anticipates the facility will generate 3,000 jobs and contribute significantly to the local economy.

Governor Alfaro praised the investment on social media, highlighting it as a major boost for the city and a testament to its growing appeal for international businesses. He acknowledged the plant’s role in leveraging local talent and cutting-edge technology for regional economic benefit.

The plant will focus on producing electronic products for various sectors, including automotive and communications, with exports planned for Europe, Asia, and the United States.

USI’s senior vice president for North American operations, Matthew Behringer, emphasized that the Tonalá site will enhance the company’s service capabilities in North America. Bernardo Santos, USI’s general manager for Guadalajara and Tonalá, stressed the company’s commitment to integrating advanced technology with local talent.

Sergio Chávez, the Mayor of Tonalá, noted the transformation of what was once vacant land into an important industrial site, emphasizing the new plant’s impact on the community and economy.

The opening of USI’s new plant in Tonalá marks a significant milestone for the company and the region.
