March 2025 PuRR Project Puerto Vallarta News & Events

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico – The latest news from PuRR Project, a non-profit, no-kill feline shelter just north of Puerto Vallarta that provides homeless cats and kittens a recuperative stay with the ultimate goal of adopting them out to loving homes sterilized, vaccinated and disease free.

UPCOMING EVENTS

Garage Sale! Back by popular demand… the shelter will hold another Garage Sale fundraiser on Saturday, April 5th. We’ll be accepting donation during March so it’s time to do your Spring cleaning. Kitchenware and appliances, electronics, toys, games, clothing, and just about anything that someone else can use.

Kitty BINGO: Mark your calendar for March 5 and 19 if you want to join us for Kitty BINGO at Nacho Daddy! We’ve still got lots of great prizes plus a chance to win the 50/50 Raffle. Games start at 4:00 and players get special food and drink prices. MEOW!

Saturday Market: We’ll continue to be at our usual table outside Daiquiri Dick’s every Saturday in March from 10:00 am – 1:00 pm. A purr-fect opportunity to get that PuRR logo T-shirt, mug, cap or cat dish towels that make such great gifts for your cat-loving friends or family.

THE PURR NURSERY

With over 50 kittens in either the shelter nursery or with fosters, we are desperate to find homes for these sweet babies before they get too old and have to be released into the yard to live. Most of the twelve that were bottle fed and raised by fosters have completed the protocols and are now ready to go to Forever Homes.

We did have two adoptions at the shelter in February and three through Dra. Eva at Sabuesos. Unfortunately, it was very slow at PetCo last month with only three adoptions. Remember we bring kittens to the PetCo Adoption Center every Saturday and Sunday at 10:00 am and it’s the purr-fect place to meet YOUR next best Furry Friend!

FEATURED FELINE: NIMO

Last month we were contacted by Jill Weick about a female cat that was living in the underground garage at Nima Bay. Efforts to find the owner had failed and “Nima” was taken to a vet for all the required protocols after which we agreed to take her at the shelter. After closer inspection by Dra. Eva, it turned out she was a BOY and was renamed NIMO! He is currently in the Senior Center but would be much happier in a home where he is the only kitty and gets all the attention. Get more information by contacting Linda at adopt@purrproject.com if you would like to give Nimo a new Forever Home.
