DIF Puerto Vallarta Toy Drive

Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, Mexico – ‘Tis the season of giving, and with Christmas just around the corner, the Puerto Vallarta System for Integral Family Development (DIF) could use your help in bringing a little happiness to disadvantaged children who are in need of some holiday cheer.

With the goal of bringing a small gift and a big smile to the faces of 5,000 underprivileged children throughout the municipality, the president of DIF Puerto Vallarta, Candelaria Tovar Davalos, invites everyone to “Donate a toy, a gift of love.”

“We want to give our vulnerable children a reason to smile this holiday season. We encourage everyone to join the Toy Drive, because every toy that is donated will be a sign of community solidarity and the commitment we have for those who have less,” Vallarta’s First Lady said.

“It doesn’t have to be an expensive toy, the most important thing is to put a smile on the faces of the children of Puerto Vallarta,” she added.

For your convenience, the DIF offices will be open to receive toy donations from 8:30 am to 4:00 pm Monday through Friday throughout the month of December. She mentioned that donations will be received until December 27 to have the time to separate them for either boy, girl and babies.

“The toys will be delivered on January 4th (Three King’s Day) when teams of DIF employees, and all volunteers who wish to accompany them, will break into groups with each team going to a different sector of the municipality where they will deliver the gifts to these poor, but deserving, children,” Candelaria Tovar Davalos said.

She mentioned that those interested in making donations should note that all toys should be educational or recreational – not warlike – with no batteries required. Gently-used toys will also be accepted, as long as they are in good condition.

The collection center will be on the premises of DIF, located at Av. Paseo de las Palmas S/N, Colonia Barrio Santa Maria. For more information on how you can help make this holiday a little brighter for local children, call (322) 225-9936, extensions 161 and 225.
