The Palm Vallarta 2019 Holiday Shows

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico – The holidays in Puerto Vallarta wouldn’t be complete without seeing some of the best shows in town. The Palm Cabaret and Bar features all types of entertainment, from Christmas themed shows to Vegas-style performances, that are sure to make the season ‘Very Merry!’

The Palm is happy for the return of our bi-weekly Lotería (Bingo games). Win prizes, make some friends and enjoy 2 for 1 margaritas and domestic beers, and help raise money for Paws, a spay & neuter clinic here in Puerto Vallarta. Join us on Dec. 23 at 4 pm for the next afternoon of fun & games.

One of last year’s more popular shows is back and audiences could not be happier. The singing duo BohemiaViva (Spanish for “living bohemian” or perhaps “bohemia is alive”) is Luis Lujan and Andrea Mottura. He plays acoustic guitar while she occasionally contributes with claves and other small percussion instruments. On December 22 & 23, the couple present the second annual holiday special “Spirit & Joy” a joyful sing-a-long Christmas event, with 2 shows per night. With elaborate sets, magical musical selections, and beautiful harmonies, its no wonder this show is one of the most anticipated show of the holiday season.

Kim Kuzma opened her new show last week to not only much anticipation, but also rave reviews. Kim presents “British Invasion,” a musical journey through the classic UK hits that have been flowing to our radio stations for years. You’ll hear everything from Ed Sheeren to The Beatles with special attention to female vocalists such as Annie Lennox and Amy Winehouse. Kim’s costumes are something to behold as well. The band is made up of Eduardo Leon on guitar, Luis Rascon on percussion and cello, and Roberto Falcon on bass, which makes for the perfect accompaniment. You can catch Kim Kuzma’s “British Invasion” on Tuesdays, and Saturdays.

Get ready for the first instalment of Tribute Tuesdays. This extremely popular set of presentations have sold out everywhere they perform. First up, on December 31, the Rod Stewart Tribute takes the stage at 5:30 pm. With uncanny resemblance and mannerism, Doug Varty sings the greatest hits of Rod Stewart. In the weeks to follow, you will be gifted with the music of Tina Turner, Burton Cummings, Roy Orbison, Shania Twain and many many more. Check out our online calendar for artists dates.

A new feature artist for us this season is Moelle fronted by vocalist and founder Fernanda Hernández. Fernanda or as her friends call her “Ferny”, is originally from the state of Aguascalientes, in the central region of the Mexican Republic. At the age of eleven, her family settled in the charming Puerto Vallarta, a city that became her hometown and provenance of Moelle Project. The show “Cinema Moelle” will take you through time bringing back memories of the magical music experience in Hollywood. Certainly the fabulous musical ensemble, the stunning voice and performance of Ferny guarantee a wonderful evening.

Our favorite Latin band continues to get audiences up dancing. Fernando Gonzalez re-assembled his band, Piel Canela and returned with a renewed energy and enthusiasm, taking a prime time slot for the 2019/2020 season. Fernando Gonzalez, Gary Flores Morales, Luis Rascon, Jose Galvan, and Alberto Ramirez band come together on Friday nights at 7:30 pm to offer toe tapping danceable music in both English and Spanish. It’s the most fun you can have in Vallarta on a Friday Night. Piel Canela was a huge hit last year, and you can expect an evolution of new material along with old favorites this season. Dancing is recommended during the shows, and we are certain you will not be able to sit still for very long. Piel Canela joins us all season long, and look for them at our Market Days in Lazaro Cardenas Park on certain Saturdays.

Luis Villanueva, born and raised in Chiapas in southern Mexico, began his musical career at age 11 in the Azteca Chiapas Hope Symphony Orchestra. at his young age he begins to participate in local singing contest and later moves to Puerto Vallarta to have more opportunities in music. Winning local and national contests in Puerto Vallarta, he begins to succeed with his shows like, The Gospel Brunch, Naked Boys singing, Revival Show etc. Thus, having his own audience, during the last year he has worked on his original music, making compositions and production together with Fernando Uribe, pianist, music director and producer. Luis continues his run at the Palm with “Mr. Curiosity,” a look at the music of the 80’s, an era where George Michael, Erasure, Culture club, Spandau Ballet, Madonna and more, were topping the charts.

The Kinsey Sicks return to The Palm to celebrate 20 years with “Oy Vey in a Manger.” In this special holiday show, we find Angel, Winnie, Trixie, and Trampolina trying to sell off their manger – yes, that manger – before it’s foreclosed upon. Crises arise, secrets are revealed, Jewish-Gentile tensions surface, and mayhem ensues – all in glorious four-part harmony. Oy Vey boasts The Kinsey Sicks reinterpretations of holiday classics, such as “God Bless Ye Femmy Lesbians,” “Satan Baby”, and “I’m Dreaming of a Vanna White Christmas”, plus hilarious Jewish satiric fare, including “Don’t Be Happy, Worry,” the Chanukah spa classic “I Had a Little Facial” and, of course, the requisite and new Christmas cuisine standard, “Soylent Night.”

Another holiday presentation comes from Sutton Lee Seymour. Known as the “Robin Williams of Drag,” Sutton Lee Seymour is New York City’s campiest live singing queen of stage and screen, now touring her best selling shows from coast to coast in the United States, Mexico, Brazil, Europe, and also the seven seas with Atlantis Events! This year, Sutton presents “Stocking Stuffer” and comedic look at the holidays through jokes and song. Her shows are always filled with great vocals, dance and some of the craziest antics you have ever seen. Sutton is with the Palm for the entire season with her new show “Booby Tunes” which starts in January.

David Hernandez and Effie Passero return to The Palm for their second year in a row. Both having had a successful run on American Idol on two separate seasons, have come together to create a modern day Sonny & Cher. With a few music videos under his belt, David Hernandez possesses vocals worthy of any stage be it from the small theater all the way to Carnegie Hall. Effie, who is also a musical writer, will sing her way into our hearts with original and cover material. The two harmonies are so effortless and the result is pure gold. A hit last year, and certain to up their game this holiday season. Opens December 26 at 9:30 pm.
