Puerto Vallarta, Mexico – On Easter Sunday (April 12, 2020), Italian tenor and global music icon Andrea Bocelli will send a message of love, healing and hope to Italy and the world by performing a very special concert at the Duomo cathedral in Milan, Italy.
Though the Duomo, a national and international landmark, won’t be open to the public, due to the social distancing measures in place in Italy and across the globe, the event, titled “Music for Hope,” will be live streamed globally via Bocelli’s YouTube channel.
Bocelli will be joined – at a distance, of course – by the cathedral organist, Emanuele Vianelli, playing one of world’s largest pipe organs. On a day symbolic of the renewal of life, the carefully selected uplifting sacred music repertoire will include the popular Bach/Gounod setting of ‘Ave Maria,’ Mascagni’s ‘Sancta Maria,’ and a special arrangement of John Newton’s enduring ‘Amazing Grace.’
“I believe in the strength of praying together; I believe in the Christian Easter, a universal symbol of rebirth that everyone – whether they are believers or not – truly needs right now,” the 61-year-old Bocelli commented in a press release.
“Thanks to music, streamed live, bringing together millions of clasped hands everywhere in the world, we will hug this wounded Earth’s pulsing heart, this wonderful international forge that is reason for Italian pride.”

Following his Easter concert, Bocelli will participate in the One World: Together at Home TV special, a coronavirus relief fundraiser curated by Lady Gaga. Also featuring Paul McCartney, Lizzo, and Eddie Vedder, it airs on NBC, ABC, and CBS on April 18th.
Andrea Bocelli is currently raising funds to help hospitals purchase the medical and protective equipment needed in the face of the coronavirus pandemic. Donations can be made via the Andrea Bocelli Foundation website or through his GoFundMe campaign.
