“What A Drag” Live Stream / Fundraiser
Sunday, March 14 at 7:00 pm

Every year, hundreds of Vallartans look forward to the hilarious What A Drag! Charity Event, which funds the Banderas Bay Women’s Shelter for the entire year. This year, the show will be presented live at Teatro Vallarta; however, the government COVID safety protocols have reduced indoor seating capacity by 50 to 75%. Act2PV is so excited to be able help fill the void by providing a live stream of this show in its OUTDOOR Starlight Cabaret! Now, you can enjoy the entire event safely with all your friends on the largest screen in Old Town at our OUTDOOR theater.
Starting at 7:00 pm, Act2PV will broadcast a pre-show where this year’s Humanitarian Award will be presented to the person that has demonstrated exemplary humanitarian efforts this year. Act2PV is also very grateful to the many people who contributed to the Act2PV fund which helped its employees and entertainers during the shutdown, and will be presenting its own awards, as well. This has been a difficult year, and Act2PV is eternally grateful for the support it has received.
Francine4.jpgIn order to reach its goal of raising $100,000 pesos for What A Drag, Act2PV will hold a silent auction for four of its beloved “Francine Peters” paintings. Many Vallartans remember Francine as a kind and generous soul who was a trailblazer for the transgender movement here in Puerto Vallarta.
She was a huge part of the entertainment scene and would always create and donate a special painting for any charity that asked. Francine was a bright light in our community that was snuffed out too soon, but she will always be loved and remembered as a huge supporter of those in need.
Danny Mininni, Act2PV managing partner says, “Francine was a big part of Act2PV. We were so honored to be able to showcase her paintings for many years, and we miss her familiar face in our audiences. It is difficult to part with these beautiful paintings, but if Franny was still with us, I know she would have painted something special for this event that was so dear to her heart. I also believe Francine would approve of our decision to continue to help support What a Drag with her paintings.”
Act2PV will also hold a 50/50 raffle during its live-stream broadcast, and will have a silent auction for artwork from other local artists, gift certificates for restaurant and services, and many other donated prizes. A complete list of all silent auction items will be posted on the Act2PV website, and bids will be accepted there, as well.
Yamada Sushi has partnered with Act2PV and will have service available for dinner. They will donate a portion of their proceeds toward reaching the $100,000 pesos goal that Act2PV has set. Remember, COME HUNGRY! The more you eat, the more you give! Act2PV will also have their own menu available.
Tickets are still available at the Act2PV box office, open daily from 4:00-10:00 pm, and on their website for a minimum donation of $600 pesos. Remember, all event proceeds will go towards the goal of donating $100,000 pesos to the Casa Esperanza Women’s Shelter (formerly known as Banderas Bay Women’s Shelter)
Not in Town? Purchase an “Angel Seat!”
If you aren’t in town and would like to donate to the What a Drag fundraiser, please consider buying an “Angel Ticket” in honor of someone who is no longer with us. Since seating is reduced everywhere this year, that limits the number of tickets that can be sold to the event. Act2PV’s goal is to sell 300 “Angel Tickets,” available online and at the box office, and will donate 100% of the proceeds to the What a Drag event.
Mamma Mia! At the Cabaret

We all know the story… Girl meets three boys, Girl has a baby and is not sure who the baby daddy is. But you have never seen the story told like this. Director Alfonso Lopez was given a few challenges: cut the show down to 90 min, cut the cast by 10 people, and MAKE IT BETTER! Alfonso did all three in the most creative and brilliant way.
He and Act2PV created a show removing all the boring dialogue, keeping all the fun music and choreography, while telling the story completely by making use of video footage and pictures from the original cast. The duets between actors on stage and video footage from last season was reminiscent of the famous Nat King Cole duet with daughter Natalie.
It is a “feel good” show, filled with joy and happiness and features lots of nostalgic singing and dancing, as well as many of the same stars from last year and the same great ABBA songs… in a way that you’ve never seen before!
Mamma Mia! at the Cabaret is pure fun! It’s like listening to your old records… It’s an ABBA-solutely perfect escape from the anxiety of today and a wonderful way to spend an evening out with your friends and family… safely! All ages are welcome. All safety protocols are in place for both actors and audience. Tickets are available now at act2pv.com.
