Aeroméxico and Delta Keep U.S. Joint Venture After Court Ruling

Aeroméxico and Delta Air Lines have won an important legal decision in the United States that allows their joint venture to continue operating. The Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals set aside a U.S. Department of Transportation order that sought to end approval of the airlines’ cooperation agreement and antitrust immunity.

This legal decision marks a pivotal moment for both airlines, which had been facing the forced end of their seamless operational partnership. Without antitrust immunity, carriers are legally restricted from coordinating schedules, ticket pricing, and flight routes.

The appellate court’s resolution effectively blocks those restrictions, allowing Aeromexico and Delta to continue operating as closely aligned partners across one of the busiest international travel markets in the world.

For millions of passengers, the ruling brings tangible benefits every time they book a cross-border flight. Because both airlines can continue aligning their operations, travelers retain access to an extensive web of connecting destinations, flexible scheduling options, and shared customer service perks.

The ongoing collaboration also helps maintain healthy market competition, keeping route networks diverse rather than forcing passengers to rely on fragmented options.

Aeroméxico said it is reviewing the court’s full opinion with Delta and their legal advisers to determine the appropriate next steps. The airline added that it will provide additional information if there are significant developments concerning the future of the alliance.

For the time being, the ruling provides stability for the partnership and allows both airlines to continue working together to maintain and strengthen air connectivity between Mexico and the United States.
