Agave’s Deep Roots: Raicilla Art Exhibit at Vallarta’s OPC

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico – Mark your calendars for a spirited celebration of agave and its cultural significance in Puerto Vallarta! On Thursday, May 23rd, the Oficina de Proyectos Culturales (OPC) kicks off its 10th-anniversary festivities with the inauguration of two captivating exhibitions – “Raicilla Was the First: Art and Culture of the Agave and its Distillates” and “Those From the Other Coast: the World of Raicilla.”

These interwoven exhibits will take you on a multi-sensory journey into the fascinating world of Raicilla, a distilled agave liquor native to Jalisco and Nayarit. The OPC has meticulously crafted these exhibitions to seamlessly blend contemporary art with the time-honored traditions surrounding agave and its distillates. Prepare to be intellectually stimulated by critical reflections on the cultural phenomena linked to Raicilla production.

Don’t miss this opportunity to raise a toast to the OPC’s decade of dedication to cultural preservation! Join the festivities on Thursday, May 23rd, from 6:30 to 8:30 PM. Live DJ entertainment and cocktails will complete this immersive exploration of agave’s cultural legacy.

Located at Juarez #598 at the corner of Aldama in downtown Puerto Vallarta, the Oficina de Proyectos Culturales (Office for Cultural Projects) (OPC) is an independent, nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting dialogue through exhibitions, roundtable discussions, public art, and arts education programs. OPC collaborates with artists, architects, curators, academics, and writers who generate ideas that shape our understanding of the city and a cultural landscape connected to Puerto Vallarta but with a global reach. It was established with the intention of contributing to the reflection on the contemporary socio-cultural and artistic environment, and with the mission of sharing with Vallarta and its visitors.
