Alfaro Announces Road Works, Delivery of Cuale Bridge

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico – During last week’s visit to Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco Governor Enrique Alfaro Ramírez announced that the State would invest 30 million pesos in the second stage of work on the lateral lanes of the city’s main avenue, Francisco Medina Ascencio.

Like the first stage of work, which began in August of 2020 on the west side of the north-south frontage road and now runs all the way from the Avenida Fluvial Vallarta intersection to the Libramiento, the south-north lateral will be completely rehabilitated, which includes replacing cobblestones, reinforcing lanes and medians with hydraulic concrete, and adding segregated bike path and sidewalks.

The Secretariat of Infrastructure and Public Works (SIOP) will carry out the work, however, 30 million pesos will not be enough to completely rehabilitate the 1.6 kilometer stretch from south to north, which runs from Las Glorias on the highway bypass to the intersection of Medina Ascencio and Fluvial Vallarta Avenue, given that the initial stage of the project cost more than 75 million pesos to complete.

“We agreed with the municipal authority that we are going to finish the rehabilitation of Avenida Medina Ascencio, it is one of the priority projects in terms of urban image. This year we have 30 million pesos budgeted, but we estimate that we will need to invest more to extend the project to include the corresponding section from the Agustín Flores Contreras Sports Unit to the bypass,” said the Governor during a press conference.

Alfaro also announced that in the first days of April he will return to Puerto Vallarta to inaugurate the Insurgentes Street bridge over the Cuale River, which was destroyed by the rising water after the passage of Hurricane Nora last year.

While here, the Governor is expected to announce the starting date of the rehabilitation on the south-north lateral lanes of Francisco Medina Ascencio.
