SHELTER UPDATE

It’s summer in the tropics so we expect it to be hot! Shelter staff, volunteers and felines are all suffering from the heat and not a lot of rain to cool things down. Last month there were another 36 kittens and one mama left at the gate so we are still dealing with a very full shelter and health issues with the heat and overcrowding. Your donations are providing all the food, medicines, cleaning supplies and salaries needed to keep the shelter running. Every little bit helps and you can go to our website at purrproject.com. to see ways to donate.

ADOPTIONS

We were all so happy that volunteer Kathy Lay was able to find a home for the cat, Lily, that she rescued here in the Spring and took her to her new home in British Columbia last week! But most of our adoptions are done at the PetCo Adoption Center each weekend. There were 9 in July and we are grateful for those, but we need more! So please consider us when you are ready to adopt a new furry friend… or maybe two!!

VOLUNTEERS

We are so grateful to our volunteers who donate their precious time. During the summer months, it mainly consists of working at the shelter to help clean the casitas, bathe new kittens and help socialize them. If you’ve got some spare time on your hands, give us a shout at info@purrproject.com. It helps if you have transportation as the shelter is remote. You can also train to help at the PetCo Adoption Center on weekends.

GRACIAS! THANKS! MERCI! DANKE! ARIGATO!

We are grateful for generous donations in July from Karen Miller, Viviane Moos, Marci & Willie Gonzalez and Kathy Lay.

Our regular donors are why we are able to make it through these tough summer months and we thank them: The McCullough Charitable Fund, Gary Phillips, Joanne Bryla, Trisha Aljoe, Sharon & Ken Rose, Catherine Goglia & Jim Shoemaker, Pat & Sandy Glenn, Karen & Walt Trolson, Cherri Gillmore, Mary & Bob Fitzgerald, Jerry Petrizzo, David Flannery, Timothy Oleno, Heidi Benedict, Robert Weed, Elizabeth Fuerherm, Janice North and Larry Sherwood.
