Bike Lanes Boost Renovation of Puerto Vallarta’s Main Boulevard

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico – Governor Enrique Alfaro Ramírez returned to Puerto Vallarta on Wednesday to inaugurate the newly completed renovation of Francisco Medina Ascencio Boulevard. The project, which included paving with stamped concrete, segregated bike lanes, sidewalks, trees, modern lighting, and safe intersections, marks a significant investment in the city’s infrastructure.

Alfaro’s visit fulfilled his earlier promise to oversee the completion of the project, aimed at improving mobility and aesthetics in one of Puerto Vallarta’s most important thoroughfares.

The project, spanning 5.43 kilometers in both directions, was funded with an investment of over 320 million pesos, largely from the Puerto Vallarta Tourism Trust, with 85.94 million pesos coming from the state’s Secretariat of Infrastructure and Public Works. The boulevard now features two traffic lanes, a segregated bicycle path, safety barriers, and wider sidewalks, enhancing mobility and safety for residents and visitors alike.

Governor Alfaro marked the occasion by cycling along the new bike lane, starting from the Las Glorias area and passing the Agustín Flores Contreras Sports Unit. He was joined by former Mayor Arturo Dávalos Peña, who originally pushed for the project in 2020, as well as Puerto Vallarta’s newly inaugurated Mayor Luis Ernesto Munguía González, and Álvaro Garciarce, President of the Association of Hotels and Motels.

Alfaro expressed pride in delivering the long-awaited project, noting Puerto Vallarta’s key role in Jalisco’s growth. “This project reflects years of hard work and a vision for a safer, more connected city,” he said, thanking Dávalos for his initial efforts. Alfaro also reaffirmed his commitment to continue working with the city’s leadership during the final months of his term.

Luis Munguía expressed his enthusiasm for the project, highlighting that it aligns with his green agenda. He noted that the bike lane will soon integrate into a larger network to enhance non-motorized mobility throughout Puerto Vallarta. The modernization of the main boulevard, with its safe sidewalks and dedicated bike lane, sets a new standard for the city’s infrastructure and mobility options.

The comprehensive upgrades along Francisco Medina Ascencio Boulevard signal a fresh chapter for Puerto Vallarta, ensuring safer, more modern streets for the community and boosting the city’s appeal as a world-class destination.
