Puerto Vallarta, Mexico – Act2PV is thrilled to announce the newest member of our team: the incredibly talented David Sabella! Recently settled in Puerto Vallarta on a full-time basis, Mr. Sabella will now serve as house manager, booking director and special events producer at Act2PV, bringing with him a vision for the theater that mirrors the vibrancy and excitement of the city itself, as well as his distinct style, warmth, and administrative ability.
In addition to his extensive and diverse performance career, Mr. Sabella has worked on academic faculties and administrations at both public universities and private conservatories, including NYU Tish School of the Arts, CAP21 studio, Manhattan School of Music, Montclair State University, Fordham University, and most notably for Ann Reinking’s Broadway Theater Project (2012-2015), where as Executive Director, he coordinated all aspects of the intensive program, including curriculum, guest artists, and student housing, as well as teaching private voice lessons and music directing the final performance.
He also served as the President of the New York Singing Teachers Association for two consecutive terms (2008-2014), revitalizing their membership and pioneering the first online classes in vocal pedagogy.
Additionally, he is internationally recognized as a master teacher in music theater and contemporary voice techniques, as well as a designated “Singing Voice Specialist,” working closely with both physicians and Speech Language Pathologists, in the care of the professional voice, after illness, injury, or surgery.
He is the author of the first and only university textbook on the art of intimate solo vocal performance, So You Want to Sing Cabaret (2020, Rowman & Littlefield). And, as a valued member of the National Association of Teachers of Singing, he is known as the “teacher’s teacher,“ traveling across the United States, leading teacher workshops, and master classes. And, he is one of twelve international voice teachers featured in the book, So You Want to Sing CCM (2018, Rowman & Littlefield), each of whom is cited as first developing the now standardized pedagogy for teaching contemporary commercial voice.
Mr. Sabella brings a wealth of experience and expertise to Act2PV Theater that will undoubtedly enhance the organization’s operations and artistic endeavors. His background in marketing and promotion will allow him to effectively promote Act2PV Theater’s productions and engage with audiences, and his collaborative approach and ability to foster relationships with actors, crew members, and stakeholders will contribute to a positive and cohesive working environment within the theater community.
