Puerto Vallarta, Mexico – The Los Horcones River, the last free-flowing river in the region, will once again be the heart of a special celebration as the 3rd Los Horcones Music Festival takes place on Saturday, March 22. From 12:00 noon to 7:00 pm, the Boca de Tomatlán boardwalk will come alive with music, family-friendly activities, and a shared commitment to protecting this vital natural resource.
This free event invites locals and visitors to enjoy live performances from local and national bands and DJs, spanning multiple genres. Beyond the engaging musical performances, the festival promises a day filled with enjoyable activities for the whole family. Attendees can participate in enlightening workshops centered on the crucial topic of environmental conservation, try their luck in raffles offering exciting prizes, and savor delicious offerings from local food and beverage vendors.
The Los Horcones River is considered the cleanest and best-preserved river in Jalisco, serving as a crucial part of the ecosystem from the Sierra Madre Occidental to Banderas Bay. The mountains surrounding the river’s path provide refuge for diverse wildlife, including jaguars, river otters, and rare orchids, while its waters help regulate the climate in Boca de Tomatlán. The surrounding forests – ranging from pine-oak at higher elevations to dry rainforest near the bay – make this an ecological treasure worth celebrating and protecting.
By hosting this festival, the community aims to raise awareness about the importance of conserving this unspoiled waterway. Although located just 40 minutes south of Puerto Vallarta’s Romantic Zone, much of the river remains pristine, thanks to its steep granite slopes and the efforts of local residents who depend on its health for tourism and daily life.
The Los Horcones 2025 Music Festival is a chance to appreciate both nature and music in a stunning setting. Admission is free, but donations are welcome to support conservation efforts. Don’t miss this opportunity to celebrate the beauty of the Los Horcones River and the community that protects it!
