Cruise Tourism Recovery Brings More Ships to Puerto Vallarta

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico – According to the Director of Tourism and Economic Development, Ludvig Estrada Virgen, Puerto Vallarta is experiencing a significant recovery from the damage the pandemic had on the tourism sector. One example is the significant upturn in cruise ships arrivals in recent months.

Since the reactivation of the cruise industry, the destination received a total of 57 cruise ships from January to March, to which the 22 scheduled arrivals for the month of April are added.

The official announced that according to the reports provided by the Administration of the Puerto Vallarta National Port System, SA de CV (ASIPONA PV), in the first three months of 2022, a total of 103,644 cruise ship passengers arrived in Puerto Vallarta, the highest number of them in the month of March.

While in 2021, from September (the month in which the cruises were reactivated) to December, a total of 108,123 passengers were recorded, so the arrival of visitors will greatly exceed that number this year.

On the local level, positive numbers were also achieved in the first quarter of 2022, registering 9,482 shore excursions with 139,575 national and international passengers participating.
