DIF Vallarta Continues Outreach Efforts to Help the Homeless

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico – Last weekend, the Puerto Vallarta System for the Integral Development of the Family (DIF) carried out its seventh mission to support homeless individuals and those in transit. The DIF, in partnership with various government agencies, continued its commitment to helping vulnerable members of the community.

The team visited areas such as Avenida México, the beach, and the Malecón. Participants included the Directorate of Citizen Security, the Directorate of Civil Protection and Firefighters, the National Institute of Migration (INM), the Office of the Attorney General for the Protection of Girls, Boys, and Adolescents (PPNNA), and several departments within the DIF system.

Led by DIF director Jorge Armando Escobell Fernández, the multidisciplinary team identified 17 people, including one American. Out of these, eight accepted assistance.

Those who accepted help received food, clothing, and, in some cases, assistance with returning to their place of origin. Some individuals requested help obtaining birth certificates, which the team provided promptly.

Director Escobell Fernández highlighted the ongoing commitment of the DIF system to support both homeless individuals and the broader community. “We are dedicated to providing the necessary support to improve lives, ensure better social integration, and offer certainty that DIF Puerto Vallarta is here to help,” he said.
