Scholarship Students Helping Their Community

“During this quarantine, I have come to support Entreamigos in giving out food bags to the people in the town and I really like doing it.” – Jenifer Vivas age 16

At Entreamigos, we consider community participation to be an invaluable part of one’s education. Therefore, as part of our scholarship program, the high school and university students complete community service hours.

Over this past month, while taking all proper precautions, these students have handed out food to community members, prepared school supply packages for students, and even helped to clean outdoor spaces at Entreamigos.

We are so proud of them for their involvement in these community activities and the fulfillment that they are gaining in participating.

Young Entrepreneurs Receive Grant to Support their Education

This program focuses on vocational training, team work and professional skill building.

We would like to thank Punta de Mita Foundation for selecting from several applicants our Young Entrepreneur program to receive a grant to help cover next season’s expenses.

Young Entrepreneurs is an educational program for high school and college students that focuses on vocational training, team work and professional skill building. They make, sell and market natural beauty products and the proceeds go to support their education.

By receiving this grant, the majority of the costs of materials to create and market these products will be covered, allowing them to maximize the support towards their education!

Ways to Get Involved

Volunteers are the reason that Entreamigos is able to do so much with so little funding.

• Place your Glass Orders – Dulce and Conny from Entreamigos’ Creative Women’s Group are now accepting glass orders. If you are in San Pancho and are interested in supporting these women by ordering your very own set of glasses made from recycled bottles, please email us at info(at)entreamigos.org.mx. Please note: Entreamigos is only able to deliver glasses locally in San Pancho and nearby towns.

• Be a Garden Volunteer – During these times it’s such a nice break to be outside getting your hands in the dirt! If you’re interested in a great opportunity for some socially distant volunteering while witnessing a beautiful garden bloom before you, please contact Gaelle at voluntarios(at)entreamigos.org.mx.

• Donate Food Items to our Pantry – Help us feed the 130 families that receive food packages from Entreamigos each week by adding a few extra groceries to your next shopping trip. This week, our needs are: milk • oats • pasta • tomato sauce • canned goods • cooking oil • diapers (size 4 & 5) • wipes

Food donations will be received Monday-Thursday from 8-10 am, or by appointment by emailing info(at)entreamigos.org.mx.

Monetary donations are also a great way to support the important work of Entreamigos. You can make a secure donation via credit card or PayPal, by clicking HERE. Entreamigos would not exist without people like you. We are sincerely grateful for your support.

Entreamigos primary focus is to increase educational opportunities for the children of San Pancho in Nayarit Mexico. To achieve these goals Entreamigos runs an art collective non-profit store, a library, a computer center and a collection of educational and community based workshops and initiatives. Entreamigos is entirely funded by donations and almost completely run by volunteers. To learn more about our programs and activities please visit entreamigos.org.mx.
