Jalisco Businesses Services Continue

Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco – After asking everyone to remain in their homes for five days as an extraordinary measure to reduce and mitigate the spread of the Coronavirus COVID-19 on Friday, Governor Enrique Alfaro Ramírez assured that the production and distribution of basic goods and services will not be interrupted.

Though all massive events have been cancelled and all activities that are not strictly necessary have either been closed, or remain open in compliance with the State’s strict sanitary measures and social distancing protocols, services that by their nature cannot stop will continue to operate, including:

• Public services and government agencies
• Supermarkets and stores, public markets, street markets and miscellaneous commerce
• Pharmacies, clinical laboratories, clinics and doctor’s offices, opticians
• Public and private transportation
• Gas stations
• Bus stations
• Couriers and parcel services
• Banks, Insurers, ATMs, credit unions
• Restaurants and home delivery
• Funeral homes
• Mechanical workshop
• Private security

In the case of key productive sectors, some examples are:

• Food, ingredient and beverage production
• Pharmaceutical and precursors
• Medical and diagnostic equipment
• Health and safety products
• Construction
• Electronics and Telecommunications
• Production of paper, glass, metal and raw materials in general
• Energy

All of these commercial activities and productive sectors must implement the protocols and sanitary measures established to deal with this contingency, as well as reduce the density of the production lines and operate with as few personnel as possible.

It is important to emphasize that the temporary closure of casinos, nightclubs, bars, cantinas and the like, has been ordered, and all events have been cancelled.

Cinemas, restaurants, and gyms may remain open, but most follow the State’s extraordinary health and hygiene measures and decrease the number of people allowed in their establishments at the same time. Capacity has been reduced by up to 50% in cinemas, and by 25% in restaurants, in order to maintain social distancing of between one and two meters per person.

Foreseeing the effects that the Coronavirus pandemic will have on the financial well-being of the state’s most vulnerable communities and families, the Governor of Jalisco, Enrique Alfaro, announced a billion-peso support program for micro and small companies, corn producers and people with self-employment or non-formal employment.

If you suspect that you have the disease or show symptoms related to it, the SSJ says that you should stay at home and call 333-823-3220 before even thinking about going to a hospital. More information about COVID-19 in the state can be found at coronavirus.jalisco.gob.mx.
