Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico – The state of Jalisco has once again made a significant mark on the international stage. A group of talented students from the region recently returned from the Singapore International Math Olympiad Contest (SIMOC) with an impressive haul of medals.
Governor Enrique Alfaro Ramírez welcomed the young mathematical prodigies at the Government Palace, praising their exceptional achievements. “These students are not only a source of pride for Jalisco but also a testament to the success of our educational initiative, Recrea,” Alfaro stated.
The Jalisco delegation, comprising 77 students out of the total of 125 competitors from across Mexico who participated, secured an astonishing 95 medals – 15 gold, 17 silver, and 63 bronze – along with 24 honorable mentions. Their success underscores the high quality of education being provided in the state.
Cuauhtémoc Cruz Herrera, director of Strategic Program Coordination of the Jalisco Education Secretariat, expressed gratitude to Governor Alfaro for his unwavering support of public education. “Your dedication has empowered our students to excel on the global stage,” he said.
The governor responded that a combination of factors led to this achievement: “the determination of students, the support and guidance of teachers and parents, and a high-quality educational model such as Recrea.”
SIMOC, a prestigious annual competition, challenges students from around the world to showcase their problem-solving skills, teamwork, and logical reasoning. The Jalisco students who participated in the contest were selected based on their outstanding performance in advanced competitions and workshops organized by the Directorate of Exact Sciences and Mental Abilities.
The governor’s recognition of the students’ accomplishments highlights the positive impact of the Recrea educational model, which has been instrumental in improving the quality of education in Jalisco.
