July Another Busy Month at the Puerto Vallarta Airport

Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, Mexico – In July, the number of commercial flight passengers that arrived at the Puerto Vallarta International Airport was almost 40 percent higher than in the same month of 2019, making it the third consecutive ‘low season’ month to beat pre-pandemic passenger numbers. (May arrivals were up 35% and June 36.3% over the same period of 2019.)

According to figures released by Grupo Aeroportuario del Pacífico (GAP), in the month of July 2022, GAP’s 12 Mexican airports registered an increase in total passenger traffic of 18.9%, compared to the same month of 2019. The airports of Tijuana, Puerto Vallarta, Los Cabos and Guadalajara presented growth of 44.4%, 39.9%, 25.1% and 4.2 percent respectively, compared to July of 2019.

The PVR international airport received 558,700 passengers, while in the same month of 2019 there were 399,500. The difference compared to last year was 22.2%, when there were 457,100 passenger arrivals.

In July, 280,300 travelers arrived on domestic flights, (37.3% more than the same month of 2019, when there were 204,200), for a total of 1,471,000 so far this year.

278,400 passengers came in on international flights, 42.6 percent more than in July 2019, when there were 195,300 arrivals. So far this year, they add up to 2,213,300, an increase of 2.2% over the first seven months of 2019.

That brings the total number of passengers the Puerto Vallarta International Airport has welcomed so far this year to 3,684,200, 15.1% more than the same period of 2019. This puts the destination on track to meet or exceed the six million visitors tourism authorities expect to arrive by the end of 2022.
