Puerto Vallarta, Mexico – The CWIS Center for Traditional Medicine, which has provided free health care to Indigenous peoples in Cabo Corrientes, Mexico, and the Pacific Northwest for over 40 years, has organized an online auction to help carry out their mission. Up for bid are unique items that make great holiday gifts. Dr. Leslie Korn tells us more:
Dear Friends,
I have spent a large part of my career living and working among Indigenous communities in Mexico, providing health care.
In 1977, I began the nonprofit Center for Traditional Medicine, which is a program of the Center for World Indigenous Studies, a nonprofit organization of activist scholars devoted to the rights and support of Indigenous peoples worldwide.
As Covid-19 continues to affect our organization and the communities we work alongside, we have decided to organize an online auction to help us in carrying out our mission. The funds from the auction support the CWIS Center for Traditional Medicine’s Nutrients for Natives Program, which has provided free health care to Indigenous peoples in Mexico and the Pacific Northwest for over 40 years.
Joining our auction, which runs through December 11, 2020 is the perfect way to get involved during Covid-19, all while staying at home! What could be better than making a difference from home?!
Find a wide array of holiday gifts including museum-quality, antique textiles, from huipiles to table runners and tortilla cloths. Many of these textiles are collector’s items and museum pieces made with hand-spun cotton and vegetable dyes. Each piece was hand-made in Mexico and Guatemala and is truly unique. These stunning textiles make for a thoughtful holiday gift. Or, treat yourself to one of these beautiful pieces of art to decorate your home.
In addition to the artisan textiles, cooking courses, world-class photography, books, hand-made pottery, and dog training sessions, are among our many auction items. It’s never too early to start thinking about holiday gifts, so I invite you to visit the auction site and see if something strikes your fancy, or is the perfect gift for a loved one. Best of all, bids start at just $6.00 USD, and 100% of your tax-deductible donations support our pro bono Nutrients for Natives health program!
Warmest,
Dr. Leslie Korn
