Memoriam Susana Connors Escobido

Chacala, Nayarit – Susana Connors Escobido, 77, passed away on Thursday, August 20, 2020, after a long illness. She died in her home, Casa Pacifica, surrounded by her family, staff and friends, including a living celebration of life she enjoyed immensely.

The daughter of Weston Geandrot and June Goodfellow, her siblings have preceded her in death; Judith Anderson, Marcia Kaufman, Leonard Geandrot and Cynthia Geandrot.

She is survived by her son Randy Connors and her three granddaughters, Christiana, Kaylee and Raelynn Connors; Casey Connors and daughter-in-law, Nicole.

Susana was born in Boston, MA, and grew up in Lafayette, CA, graduating from Akalanes High School. She earned a B.S. in Economics from the University of Hawaii.

She became a Real Estate Broker in Lake Tahoe, CA, and continued in real estate when she established her life in Chacala, Nayarit, Mexico. In 2000, she built Casa Pacifica B&B by cutting away jungle in the northwest corner of the small fishing village.

Along with the Berkeley, CA and La Penita Rotary, she participated in the construction of the Health Clinic in Chacala. She also co-founded the Cambiando Vidas (Changing Lives) charity, which supports Chacala Youth in secondary and college education. Susana also gathered together a scholarship group to support two young women in their university studies, one of whom enters her third year in Civil Engineering this fall.

In the coming months, the family will establish the Susana Connors Escobido Memorial Scholarship Fund to support the university education of promising young men and women from Chacala and the region. Details for donations will be provided soon.

The many emails and texts being sent as she rested peacefully attest to the special woman she was, a pillar in the village of Chacala, beloved by all who knew her, inspired by her hospitality at Mauna Kea Cafe atop her guest house. Visitors from around the world found friendship that bonded and brought people together year after year for their winter holiday.

Memorial gifts can be made to Cambiando Vidas and the Memorial Scholarship Fund when they are set up. Further information will be forthcoming.

All of us here at Banderas News extend our sincere condolences to Susana’s friends, family, and everyone who was fortunate enough to know her.
