Mexico Opens Vaccination Registration Ages 40-49

Mexico City – The Government of Mexico on May 28 announced the start of the COVID-19 vaccination process for people between the ages of 40-49. Registration is now open, and the inoculation stage will begin at the beginning of June. Meanwhile, the vaccination of pregnant women and older adults continues.

“Given the large supply of vaccines that we have received this week, we can assure, that with distribution by the Secretariat of National Defense (Sedena), we will be able to complete the vaccination of the country’s two greatest priorities (older adults and health care providers) during the first week of June. That is why we are now beginning the 40 to 49 years old stage,” said Ruy Lopez Ridaura, general director of the National Center for Preventive Programs and Disease Control.

Registration for people in the 40 to 49 age group is now open at mivacuna.salud.gob.mx.

The authorities reiterated that the order that the vaccines will be administered does not depend on when people register, registration is only used to plan the strategy.

The goal is to vaccinate 11.4 million people against the coronavirus, 70 percent of the total population in this age group.

Meanwhile, people who belong in the 60+ and the 50 to 59 age groups, as well as pregnant women over 18 years of age, with more than 9 weeks of gestation, can continue to receive the biological at the vaccination centers designated for each state and municipality.
