Puerto Vallarta, Mexico – The 45th annual MEXORC Regatta was held from March 2nd to 6th, 2024, in Puerto Vallarta. The competition took place in Banderas Bay, with Marina Vallarta serving as the main venue for the participating boats. The regatta was supported by the San Diego Yacht Club, PV RACE 2024, and the Acapulco Yacht Club, with ratings determined by the Offshore Racing Rules (ORR).
Twenty boats competed across three categories based on their ratings and the number of similar boats that could form a competitive class. The event commenced on March 2nd with an opening ceremony and captains’ meeting, followed by races and an evening cocktail for participants. Two additional races were held on March 3rd.
March 4th saw a race in the Marietas Islands, followed by two more bay races on March 5th. The regatta concluded on March 6th with a chase format race off Marina Vallarta.
Luis Villaseñor, director of Puerto Vallarta’s tourism promotion office, commented on the event’s significance: “By hosting the MEXORC regatta, Puerto Vallarta strengthens its position as a premier sporting destination, offering not only a world-class sailing event for competitors but also the opportunity to experience the Mexican Pacific’s leading tourist destination.”
