MiMi Bomba Launches Playful Life in Vallarta Column

Hola, Todos! My name is MiMi Bomba. Okay. Not really. Those of you of a certain age might be able to figure out that my pseudonym pays homage to a humorist who wrote a syndicated column from the 1960s until her death in 1996 at age 69. That’s all I will say about her, except that I don’t intend to plagiarize her – not much anyway and not intentionally.

If you don’t know about whom I am speaking, you are likely in a younger demographic. So, I will just advise you, if you want to laugh, check out: If Life is Just a Bowl of Cherries, Why Am I in the Pits? or The Grass is Always Greener Over the Septic Tank. Or both books. Timeless and funny.

Since this is my first foray into Banderas News, I will keep it short, lest I put you to sleep.

Yesterday I was with amigas at a favorite beach restaurant (shout out to Romy and his hard-working staff). As we sat there and watched people walking by, one of the ladies mentioned that there was a “parade of little dogs.” Purse puppies. So many little heads poking out of beach bags.

I hadn’t noticed because there are usually a few of them. But after she made that observation, we noticed about six more little poms and chihuahuas and doodles being carried by. I wish I could tell you that there is a point to this story, but there isn’t. It’s just nice to know that there are still cute, happy, caring people existing in the world.

You have to be a caring person to put a puppy in a purse and carry it with you to the beach. You have to be a happy person to have the opportunity to enjoy the beaches of Puerto Vallarta. And you are, by definition, cute! If you have a puppy in a purse, you are for sure cute!

That is all for today, but I will warn you that since I am obsessed with stand-up comics, I intend to shamelessly copy them whenever I feel like it in the future. Shoot, they do it to each other, so why not? So, I hope you will read and – perhaps – enjoy my little musings. I will never be an Erma, but I can be a MiMi. And I am.

I love you, Puerto Vallarta. I love you, Mexico!
