Puerto Vallarta musician and composer Ruben Perez has unveiled his latest single, “Life Stitches,” featuring Dave Shaman, the lead singer of the Mexican Alternative Metal band, Los Shamanes. Released on June 2nd, 2024, the song is both honest and deeply soulful.
A lifelong music enthusiast and self-described “guitarist at heart,” Perez initially explored his creativity through writing down his thoughts and ideas, eventually finding a deeper form of expression through music. With the guitar as his constant companion, he honed his craft, imbuing simple phrases with deeper meaning.
For over a decade, Perez immersed himself in Puerto Vallarta’s music scene, performing a wide range of genres from pop and rock to reggae, punk, and metal. While working with cover bands, he consistently injected his unique style into every song. His artistic spirit relentlessly pursued new ideas and the development of his signature sound, which entertained enthusiastic crowds at countless restaurants, bars, hotels and festivals.
In 2008, Perez made a pivotal decision to transition from solely performing to focusing on songwriting and composition. This shift allowed him to delve deeper into his creative wellspring. While no longer a full-time professional musician, his love for music remains undimmed – he continues to sing and play guitar on all his compositions, infusing them with his soulful voice and instrumental mastery.
