Paw-some News! Uber Pet Now Available in Guadalajara

Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico – Traveling with your pet in Guadalajara just got a whole lot easier. Uber has launched Uber Pet, a new ride option that allows passengers to bring their dogs or cats along for the journey. Whether it’s a vet visit or a weekend outing, pet owners can now ride with peace of mind, knowing their furry companions are welcome.

According to recent data from INEGI, Mexico is home to 80 million pets, and 70% of households have at least one. Recognizing this strong bond, Uber designed the new service to meet the growing demand for pet-friendly transportation. Riders can schedule Uber Pet trips between 30 minutes and 90 days in advance through the app.

“Dogs and cats are family to millions of people, and at Uber, we understand that perfectly,” said Esteban Illades, Communications Manager for Uber Mexico. “With Uber Pet, we want to ensure they travel just as comfortably as their human companions.”

As part of the launch, Uber partnered with Fundación Patitas de Ayuda AC, a nonprofit dedicated to rescuing and rehoming stray and mistreated animals. The company donated more than 20,000 pesos to support the foundation’s adoption events and committed to sharing adoption profiles on its social media to help animals in need find loving homes.

Gloria Zepeda, founder of the foundation, expressed heartfelt thanks: “Your commitment to creating a more just and dignified life for our furry friends is truly inspiring. These contributions not only support our efforts but also help more pets find the homes they deserve.”

Following its debut in Guadalajara, Uber Pet will roll out in 10 additional cities this week. Participation is optional for drivers, who can choose to accept pet-inclusive rides by updating their preferences in the app.

However, Uber Pet has not yet arrived in Puerto Vallarta. While the service is expanding in major cities like Monterrey and Tijuana, local riders in the Banderas Bay region will still need to request standard Uber rides and communicate directly with the driver to ensure they are comfortable with accommodating an animal in their vehicle.

Since arriving in Mexico in 2013, Uber has grown to operate in over 115 cities across 32 states, offering a wide range of services including Uber Eats, Uber for Business, and eco-friendly options like Uber Planet. With Uber Pet, the company continues to build new ways to connect people – and now their pets – with where they need to go.
