Puerto Vallarta Bus Station Reports 5% Increase in Passengers

Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, Mexico – The Puerto Vallarta Bus Station has reported a five percent increase in passengers during the current low season, according to its general manager, Carlos Murguía Cibrián. Between 1,000 and 1,500 passengers are arriving daily at the terminal.

“As we near the 2024 summer vacation period, we’ve noticed a 5% increase in departures during non-vacation periods, with about 150 departures each day. On weekends, departures increase by 10%, and passenger arrivals range from 1,000 to 1,500, with weekends being the busiest,” said Murguía Cibrián.

He explained that this increase is due to the opening of a new highway that reduces travel time to the state capital to a little over three hours. He expects this to result in more than 500,000 passengers this year, surpassing last year’s total.

“People are happy with the new highway, which has made travel faster and easier. This has led to more passengers using our services. We’ve received positive feedback, increased the number of departures, and seen more passengers on our buses. We aim to exceed last year’s record of 500,000 passengers,” he added.

In other news, the Puerto Vallarta Bus Station is working on two clean energy projects to enhance the user experience. “We are renovating internal areas, including a terminal warehouse and a dormitory for operators. Our main project this year is installing solar panels, which will allow our terminal’s climate control systems to operate 24 hours a day, providing better service and supporting our clean energy campaign,” Murguía Cibrián reported.

Additionally, the station is preparing for the summer vacation period with a focus on maintenance, cleaning, and security to ensure quality service. “We aim to keep parking lots, food areas, arrival halls, and waiting rooms with climate control and screens available year-round. We have also started training staff, including ticket office workers and baggage handlers, to improve passenger service. As a tourist destination, Puerto Vallarta must always offer top-notch service,” he said.
