Puerto Vallarta Celebrates Life and Tradition with “Remember Me”

Puerto Vallarta is preparing to celebrate one of Mexico’s most cherished traditions with the second edition of “Remember Me,” a grand Día de Muertos festival taking place from October 30 to November 3. The event will transform the city into a living tribute to heritage and remembrance, filled with art, music, and culture for all to enjoy.

The festivities begin on Thursday, October 30, at 6:00 pm with the inauguration of the altars of the dead outside City Hall and a stunning catrina exhibition along the Malecón. At 7:00 pm, the Bolero Machuca group will perform in the Plaza de Armas, followed by the Haro Quintet at 8:00 pm. The Aquiles Serdán Amphitheater (Los Arcos del Malecón) will host a series of performances, including the Quetzal Folkloric Ballet, a musical interpretation of La Llorona, a catrina catwalk presentation, the play Ya se lo hizo la Huesuda, and a musical interpretation of La Bruja y un Mundo Raro.

On Friday, October 31, the Xiutla Folkloric Group will bring traditional dance to Lázaro Cárdenas Park, while Ballet Aguascalientes performs at the Arcos del Malecón. The Plaza de Armas will come alive with mariachi, Grupo Los Dinámicos, and La Sonora Kuis, among other musical performances. That evening, visitors can also experience Historias y leyendas de tumbas at the 5 de Diciembre Municipal Cemetery, followed by an immersive walk through the tombs, and Voces del Más Allá, where actors bring local legends to life.

Saturday, November 1, continues the celebration with pianist Melina Reyes in the Plaza de Armas and a special presentation of De Catrinas, Llorona y Brujas at Los Arcos del Malecón, followed by another Ballet Aguascalientes performance at 8:00 pm. At the 5 de Diciembre cemetery, the Día de Muertos murals will be unveiled, accompanied by a repeat of the immersive legend walk and Voces del Más Allá. Meanwhile, Lázaro Cárdenas Park will host a 1980s and 1990s rock and disco tribute.

On Sunday, November 2, the traditional Day of the Dead Parade will begin at 5:00 pm at the 5 de Diciembre cemetery, moving through the Historic Center and pausing on the Malecón at 7:00 pm for the unveiling of the fourth edition of the giant Catrina. The procession will conclude at Los Muertos Pier with a cultural festival featuring De Catrinas, Lloronas y Brujas, a performance of Narrativa de Leyendas y Boleros by Ugo Rodríguez of Azul Violeta, and music by DJ Ticopa.

The celebration will close on Monday, November 3, with the “Footprints from Beyond” dog walk at 6:00 pm, starting at McDonald’s on 31 de Octubre Street and continuing along the Malecón to Los Arcos, highlighting the tradition of remembering beloved pets.

Whether you’re admiring the monumental catrina, exploring the altars, or learning about the legends that shape Mexican culture, Puerto Vallarta’s Day of the Dead festivities offer a heartfelt and unforgettable experience. The city once again invites everyone to celebrate life, honor the past, and share in the joy of remembrance in the Friendliest City in the World.
